TL;DR: Radius doesn't run ID checks or background screening on guests for you yet. Until it's built in, run verification with your own tool and require it in your House Rules. Your House Rules attach to the rental agreement every guest signs.
Who this is for: đ Host
Overview
Radius does not currently run ID verification or background screening on guests. If screening matters to your operation, run it with your own tool (such as Autohost) and build it into your booking terms so every guest is treated the same way. We're adding ID verification directly into Radius; until it ships, here's how to handle it today.
How it works: step by step
1. Add the requirement to your House Rules
The cleanest way to require verification is to add it to your House Rules. On Radius, your House Rules attach automatically to the rental agreement your guest signs, so the requirement becomes part of the signed booking terms instead of a separate request you have to remember to send. Add a line such as: "Guests are required to complete and pass ID verification upon booking."
đ Host: Because it rides along with the rental agreement, every guest agrees to it at the same point in the flow, you keep a signed record, and you're not relying on catching each booking in time to send a link by hand.
2. Send your verification link once the booking is confirmed
When a booking is confirmed, you receive the guest's contact details. Send your own verification link directly and have the guest complete it.
3. (Optional) Send the link before you accept
If your listing is set to Request to Book, a message thread opens as soon as a guest requests a booking, before you accept. You can share your verification link there. We don't recommend relying on this as your main method: you have a 24-hour window to accept or decline, and waiting on a guest to finish verification inside that window can let the request expire. Use the House Rules approach as your default, and treat a pre-acceptance message as an optional extra step when you have time.
Who does what (at a glance)
Stage | đ What you do |
Set the rule | Add the verification requirement to your House Rules. |
Booking requested (Request to Book) | Optional: share your link in the message thread before accepting. |
Booking confirmed | You get the guest's contact details; send your verification link. |
When you can reach the guest
Booking requested (Request to Book): a message thread opens, so you can message the guest and share a verification link before you accept.
Booking confirmed: you receive the guest's contact details.
24 hours before check-in: the guest receives your phone and email for arrival. A guest can also request your contact details in the message thread earlier than this.
Frequently asked questions
Does Radius screen guests for me?
Not yet. Radius doesn't run ID checks or background screening on guests today. Use your own tool and require it through your House Rules. We're building verification into Radius and will update this article when it's live.
Which tool should I use?
Any verification tool you trust works. Autohost is one example. The important part is requiring it consistently through your House Rules so every guest is treated the same way.
Can I verify a guest before I accept the booking?
On Request to Book listings you can share your link in the pre-acceptance thread, but the 24-hour accept window can expire while you wait. Keep the House Rules requirement as your default.
